The Fate of Yevgeniy Prigozhin’s Information Operations Infrastructure

Known on the battlefield for his mercenary army, late businessman and “Putin’s chef” Yevegniy Prigozhin also had significant assets dedicated to Russia’s disinformation campaign. These included branded media outlets as well as the Internet Research Agency, more commonly known as the “Troll Farm.” These operations stopped after Prigozhin’s abortive mutiny and subsequent demise. Were the Russian government to decide that even a nominal separation from the state would provide some desired element of credibility or deniability (or both), it might choose to create such a structure, albeit one fully under Kremlin control.
