Türkiye’s Balancing Act

Türkiye has leveraged its location at the center of hostilities, turning what could be vulnerabilities into strengths through assertive diplomacy. Partly this is because the major players in the Russian Ukraine war see value in Turkish diplomacy. Given the overlapping webs of trade to the east and sanctions from the west, Ankara will need to remain nimble and attentive to ensure that Türkiye can address its domestic needs without running afoul of its many partners.
